What are you going to do?

Voortman Steel Machinery manufactures the most advanced automated steel processing technology available. We’re a rapidly growing Company, and we’re looking for a new and business-critical team member for our North American subsidiary, Voortman USA LLC.

You'll be expected to:

  • Lead and Supervise: Engage and motivate staff with daily supervision on operational tasks; holds end responsibility for scheduling

  • Oversee Employee Development: Set out career progression for each team member and manages the annual performance review process

  • Collaborate: Work with global peers on capacity, department improvements, and training opportunities

    Summary of Key Responsibilities:

  •   Accountable for establishing and/or creating department processes to maximize its efficiency and effectiveness on assigned projects such as establishing priorities, work oversight, overseeing desired results, quality, time, and associated costs.

  • Oversees the employment matrix to ensure appropriate allocation of resources to meet projected workload demand

  • Assess engineering personnel and their capacity in terms of knowledge, skills, and abilities and aligns staff to projects accordingly

  • Contributes to the long-term strategy regarding department expectations, staffing, and work capacity in alignment with global team

  • Partners with stakeholders including other department representatives by contributing insights and making recommendations to accomplish departmental objectives, provides progress reports, anticipates changes, and decerns when to escalate potential issues

  • Works hand-in-hand with the Human Resources/Recruitment Departments in the interview process of candidates, both internal and external to enable optimal placements in department jobs

  • Manages onboarding/training of new and existing staff for Installation & Commissioning Department

  • Collaborates on a daily basis with planners to enhance global resource planning process

  • Ensures accurate and timely submitting of business expenses, working hours, and daily work reports from assigned team

  • Conducts annual performance reviews and is responsible for the professional development and/or performance of assigned staff

  • Responsible for the hiring and/or performance management cycle of assigned personnel to build and sustain a competent and cohesive department that achieves organizational goals

  • Completes travel arrangements for assigned team including financial analysis when booking arrangements to ensure that all reservations are completed in the most cost-effective manner possible.

  • Additional duties as assigned by management

Job requirements

We ask

  • Thee years of professional experience creating team goals

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, mechanical, electrical engineering or related field

  • Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and adaptability are required to pivot a change in strategy, direction, or focus in support of the business

  • A proven history of successfully leading/coaching staff and achieving desired department/organizational goals required with at least two years of experience

  • Professional experience operating in a globally dispersed workforce in a similar technical and/or engineering industry

  • Being able to speak, read, and write the English language is required to interact effectively with internal and external customers while out in the field, proficiency in Spanish not required, but a plus
