Internship or Graduation: Engineering - Laser Parameters
- Rijssen, Netherlands
- Internships & Graduation
Unlock the future of laser cutting! Experiment with a prototype laser machine, and refine piercing & cutting quality.
Job description
What are you going to do?
At Voortman, high power laser machines are manufactured that are capable of cutting sheet metal up to 50mm. For sheets in this thickness range it is challenging to properly pierce the material and obtain high quality cuts. The quality depends on many parameters such as gas pressure, gas type, optics settings and velocity.
This assignment aims at finding the relationships between these parameters. Using these relations the piercing and cutting process can be improved. The goal of the assignment is to improve the quality of pierces and cuts in thick sheet metal.
A prototype laser cutting machine is available to perform cutting tests. For quality assessment of cut samples an optical profilometer is available, including a database of previously conducted experiments.
