What are you going to do?

The Maintenance Technician (Field Service) performs preventive maintenance, basic troubleshooting, and minor repairs on proprietary CNC industrial machinery at customer facilities. This role ensures equipment reliability, maintains high customer satisfaction, and supports safe, efficient machine performance through detailed documentation by using the maintenance app, proactive recommendations, and professional communication.

  • Preventive Maintenance & Service Execution

  • Conduct in-person customer visits to perform scheduled preventive maintenance on proprietary industrial/CNC machinery.

  • Perform safe and appropriate installation of wear items and minor components according to manufacturer and company standards.

  • Complete basic diagnostics, troubleshooting, and minor repairs on CNC systems (mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and software-related as applicable).

  • Capture drive backups and take clear before-and-after photos of machinery to document service condition and completed work.

  • Documentation & Reporting

  • Generate detailed maintenance reports, documenting findings, wear-and-tear, and components needing replacement.

  • Proactively identify items that should be replaced, repaired, or scheduled for follow-up to reduce downtime and improve performance.

  • Accurately track and submit travel time, labor hours, and job-related through Sales Force field technician app.

  • Ensure accurate and timely submission of business expenses in accordance with company policy.

  • Continuous Improvement & Customer Support

  • Identify and communicate improvement opportunities (e.g., mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, software) based on observations, customer feedback, and organizational guidance.

  • Communicate clearly and professionally with machine operators and customer stakeholders to ensure maximum satisfaction and proper machine operation.

  • Collaborate with internal teams (service coordination, parts, engineering, operations) to resolve issues and complete service objectives.

  • Safety & Professional Development

  • Follow all company and customer safety protocols, ensuring maintenance work is performed in a safe environment at all times.

  • Participate in training and development activities to maintain and improve technical knowledge and job-related skills.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Required Qualifications

  • Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical degree/certification preferred (Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, Electromechanical, etc.).

  • 2+ years of maintenance/service experience on industrial equipment preferred (CNC, fabrication, automation, heavy machinery, or similar).

  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record; ability to travel to customer sites.

  • Technical Skills

  • Working knowledge of preventive maintenance practices and industrial troubleshooting.

  • Ability to read and interpret basic technical documentation (manuals, diagrams, work instructions).

  • Familiarity with one or more of the following is strongly preferred:

    • Mechanical systems (bearings, drives, alignment, lubrication)

    • Hydraulic and pneumatic systems

    • Electrical fundamentals (sensors, motors, wiring best practices)

    • CNC basics and industrial software interfaces

    • Comfortable using digital tools for documentation (service platforms, email, photos, backups).

  • Strong customer service mindset with professional, clear communication.

  • Organized and detail-oriented with consistent follow-through.

  • Able to work independently in the field, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively.
